windows 2003 server VSS writer failure

I am unable to backup this server I keep getting Vss writer errors. I am the process of transitioning from Veritas to Veeam and both products produce similar errors. I have tried resetting the the writer. here is the Veeam error

Hi,

you could configure application-aware processing to ignore failure or to disable it, and backup will run.
Now, I don't know what is on that server, so maybe in the end that is not a good idea for you environment. If you have a file share, you could do that, but if that is a DC or something like that, then you need different solution.

Are you using correct guest OS credentials? What version of Veeam are you using, and what is on that 2003 srv?

Ivan, This is not a DC the only critical app on this server is an antiquated time and billing program, so your solution may work. I will give it a try.

I found that by shutting off all of the sql server instances except the VSS writer did the trick I am able to back up this VM with no errors, thank you
