How to Link Echo Dots to an AV Receiver and have it play across all inputs, e.g DVD

I am currently setting up my home cinema room, where I want to control everything using my Echo Dot. I have set up Sky Q, Amazon Fire TV stick, Blu-ray player, etc.. to my  receiver, where each device has its own channel. All of that works perfectly.

As I`ve mentioned, I want my Echo Dot to control everything. Because of this I want the Output from the Echo Dot to come through the receiver, no matter what channel the receiver is on,  i. e. if I am using Sky Q I still want to be able to talk to and hear the Echo dots.

Does anyone have a solution I could apply?

Regards,
Cillian

Hi Bill Bach,

Thank you for your informative reply.

The idea with the AV Receiver is that it is connected to speakers which we have installed in the walls of our home cinema room to give the sound coming from the AV Receiver a surround sound effect.

The reason that it was good to plug in the Echo Dot into the receiver was that the Echo Dot then used surround sound which allowed for it to be heard in nearly any place in the room.

Although this works well, having one input for it does seem to be a problem as changing to Sky, DVD player, etc. will effect the Echo Dot as there will be no sound heard from it.

Is it possible to have two inputs on at the same time through AV Receiver, i.e. Echo Dot would be always on while second input would be switchable, such as from Sky to DVD player, etc?

Thanks,
Cillian
