Microsoft Office 365 - what versions run Access in the cloud?

Hi Experts,

I'm interested in migrating our PC based Access 2010 database to the Cloud, so we can have a few users in remote locations.

I've looked at Microsoft webpages describing different versions of Office 365.
But all of them refer to Access (PC only)?

Does that mean that Access (PC only) can automatically share a database in Microsoft's cloud?

Or am I missing something?

Regards,
Leigh

It means that Access 2016 (the current version and this only) is included in the subscription, but only as a download - to be run as a desktop application.

An Access file cannot be shared "in the cloud". It requires an SMB file share - the protocol offered by Windows Server and Samba on Linux.

Thanks, Jim,

I'm interested in eqldata, but their site cannot be reached (at least for the last 12 hours).

I just tried it here and I was unable to reach it as well.    It would be sad if they went out of business.   They were the only vendor that offered an alternative to running a Access database "as is" on the net.  I know their business was booming and they could not keep up.

I'll look around and see if there is any news on them.

I know a few here from EE tried the services and were quite happy with it.   Their only complaint was that it was a bit costly for a lot of users.   But for people only having a half dozen or so remote users, it was fantastic.

No DB mods were required other than those you would make to an app to get it to run under terminal services (and just to be clear, it was not a hosted terminal services solution, but moving the data to the cloud and doing a two way sync with a local DB).

Jim.
Can't find anything on them on the net....last activity seems to be 2013.  Bummer.

Jim.
Hi Jim,

Thanks for looking for eqldata, agree it's a pity they have vanished.

BTW I already have our Access db running as a RemoteApp on a server - works fine.
