itunes updating to 12.7

I don't like how itunes 12.7 loses the apps tab on the sidebar so I can transfer apps to my ipod touch so I did some things to trash it and install 12.3 --- That worked just fine but this morning it automatically updated to 12.7.  Is there a way to prevent itunes from updating?

Most iTunes changes occur through config settings changes.

Whenever iTunes updates produce poor UI appearance, I go through the Apple docs + figure out how to reconfigure iTunes to produce previous version behavior.

Try that first, because sometimes installing downlevel iTunes will cause iTunes to stop working.

installing downlevel itunes works just fine.  How do I stop itunes from updating again?
Here you go....http://smallbusiness.chron.com/stop-new-itunes-software-downloads-40951.html

Stop iTunes Automatic Updates
1. Launch iTunes on your computer. Click the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences." By default, the "General" tab is selected.
2. Disable the "Check for iTunes Updates Automatically" option by clicking the check box beside it. Click "OK."
Please let us know if that works. Apple has removed APPS from iTunes - Gone. Going back to an earlier version will not change this. So since 12.7 is a huge shift and will change from this base point, it might be better to get used to it.
I will downgrade again and see if I can uncheck auto updates for itunes.  Maybe it was checked when I went to 12.3
Going back to 12.3 does bring back the apps selection in the sidebar that is for sure.  (see screenshot.)  And I can transfer apps to my ipod now just like before.  The question now is how do I prevent itunes from auto updating to 12.7?  See the screenshot that shows that auto update is not checked.

I am not sure you can download apps any more. Apple removed it, and iTunes is just a front end.

Apple is enforcing the update because of the back end changes. So even though you have unchecked the auto update function, Apple is still forcing the update. They have to in order to remove Apps.
I can download apps from the app store with 12.3.  And transfer to my ipod.  Works exactly like it used to.  (see screenshot)  So the question is:  Does anyone know how you can prevent itunes from updating?    Seems like there has to be a way.  If there is not then how do I transfer my apps to the ipod that are on my computer with itunes 12.7?

So every app that is in my itunes library cannot be transferred with itunes, it has to be redownloaded on the ipod touch with wifi?  That is terrible if true.  What a time waster.
Yup. 6 people don't like iTunes bloat, so Apple figures the remain 100 Million don't like it either.

Dumb, stupid decision that will shoot them in the head as people now see no need for iPhone at all. Android will be in my future.
Almost tempted to run an automator script at the end of the day that disables my network connection until I get in the next morning so the udpate can never install for itunes.
Fair enough, but that will not help with apps (fairly certain) as Apple has changed the platform.
Add me to the 100 million that don't like it.
I am with you 100% but I spent time researching this when 12.7 came out this week and Apple is not going to budge. Thanks.
