Google Docs - Having trouble uploading Word Doc

Hi,
I need to upload a Word doc from my hard drive to Google Docs to share it. Per the scrubbed screenshot below (cobbled together), I click on the hamburger icon on the upper right, but do not see any choices for uploading. I've also tried to drag the doc from Windows Explorer to Google Docs, but to no avail.

Accordingly,

1. How do I upload this document?
2. How would I create a folder in which to store this doc?

Two questions:

1. Pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference (if there is one) between Google Docs (where I was before), and Google Drive.

2. When I clicked on the Hamburger icon in the upper left (while looking at the doc), I was navigated away from that document. Is that behavior expected?

#2 - OK, i get it. now. The hamburger icon is NOT where you go to (e.g) download or rename. I'd have to go to File. Thanks.
