Note 5 will not detect Apple TV
hi techs,
I am trying to play videos and pictures from my Note 5 to my Apple TV and suddenly it's not working in the last one year or so. The last time at work successfully was about a year ago and I was using allcast. this week I've been trying to connect my phone again and no matter what I try my Note 5 will not detect the Apple TV and if some of the apps do list it it will not connect. I also tried my work Android phone which is I think an S7 and it wouldn't connect either. I have reset the network connections several times on both units and tried repeatedly with no success. I'm starting to wonder if Apple has made a change that everybody but me knows about. at this point what I think I'm going to do is buy the Chromecast and plug that in right alongside the Apple TV to see if I can use that to interface with my phone since all of the apps I've downloaded aren't working at all. My Note 5 is up-to-date with the most recent software and the Apple TV is also up-to-date with the most recent software and it is only about one year old. Any assistance with this issue is appreciated.

What is your purpose of casting to a TV?
For mirroring or streaming of media in an app like YouTube or a media file in local storage?
Chromecast has limited app support and you need to use app developed by Google like YouTube....Etc.

I have 5 different sharing apps installed and none of them work. even if I try to have the phone use the native Smart View built-in app it won't find the Apple TV

how do you tell if the Apple TV is 1 2 or 3? it's only a year old so I would think it's either two or three

outstanding! It's unbelievable to me how greedy these companies are that they can't even work together to get a customer to share local media. also I notice in all the apps on the Play Store they all say that it works with Apple TV. I think somebody needs to let these developers know that Android cannot connect Apple TV at all
Android and iOS are completely two different ecosystem and it is not a reasonable belief that an Android app will connect to a device running iOS and vice versa.

Well, these Playstore apps were working fine a year ago. Now suddenly Apple has locked them out.

Anyway, it is just a matter of time to update their apps which do airplay to Apple TV and if you do not want to buy a new device, just wait for app developer to update their apps.

how do you know if the tv is a 4k?
Just Google the model number and look into its spec and you will know whether it is 4K or not.
Chromecast works well, side by side, with Apple TV. I have multiple conference rooms set up that way. The only issue is the visiting presenters from some other company that won't patch their own system and reboot to fix old drivers or security updates, when they want to connect to a chromecast.
