TightVNC Control Interface not launching for both App & Service modes
I've installed the latest TightVNC (32bit) on my Dell Win 7 32bit as well as on
another laptop Win 7 64bit. TightVNC service is started
In both cases, when I tried to launch them, nothing happens. Windows
Firewall was permitted during installation.
'netstat -ano | find "pid_of_tightvn" '
shows TightVNC processes are listening on Tcp 5800 & 5900
& telnet localhost 5800 or 5900 connects
what did I miss

> set your personal PC as tightvnc host
On both PCs, they can act as both client & server.
So on my personal PC, I set it up at server/host & tried to connect to its own
"Control Interface" where we can configure the ports to listen to as well as
the control interface password, it just did not launch the Control Interface
screen.
I recall years ago, I set this same thing up on a Win XP PC & was able to
connect to itself (ie to its own Control Interface) : let me retrieve that
Win XP laptop from my shelf to test it out: things were working fine then.
The difference is on that Win XP PC, I was using an older 32bit TightVNC
3 years ago while on these 2 Win 7 laptops, I am using the latest TightVNC
32 bit

I just found that old Win XP laptop & reinstalled with the latest Ver 2.8.8 32bit
TightVNC (ie the same installer as what I used on the Win 7 laptops):
After installation, I click
TightVNC Service Mode ==> TightVNC Svc Control Interface
& a screen pops up immediately prompting for password which
after keying in password I got into the management interface.
I know Win XP by default does not have Windows Firewall; let
me check the Win 7.
Tvnserver.exe is the host while tvnviewer.exe is the client used
to connect to host. I have used it in the past comfortably but
just can't figure what's amiss this time

Ahh, just figured it out on the corporate laptop: I have to click on the
little upward pointing triangle at the bottom task bar & I'll see the
TightVNC little icon in it : just have to click on this icon & the Control
Interface will pop up. Let me test further & if nothing more, will
close this thread in 30 hours.
Thanks very much Jackie: your responses give me the will to go on

You are welcome. Troubleshoot on how antivirus / Internet security software interacts with VNC software demands great attention in details and patience but it can be solved eventually.

On the McAfee, I can't uninstall as it's corporate & I don't have the rights to uninstall (it's a corporate policy)
while on my personal 64bit Win7, I've uninstalled Malwarebytes, rebooted and still the same issue
