Best settings for streaming to Twitch, confused
I have been streaming to Twitch with mixed results. I use OBS Studio, latest version and running Win 10 on a pretty powerful rig. I am NOT running a separate 2nd PC for streaming. I know that would be the best, but it is NOT affordable at this time.
Here are my rig specs:
Asus Maximus Hero VIII Intel Z170 based chipset, ATX Motherboard
Intel Core i7-6700K Processor, 4-core @ 4.0GHz with HT, 8MB L3 Cache (Safe and stable Overclocked with liquid cooling)
6GB MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX980 Ti GDDR5
512GB Samsung 950 Pro PCIe 3.0 Solid-State Drive
Integrated Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2201 LAN chip (10/100/1000 MBps)
Windows 10
I seem to get stutters in the stream. Some games no matter how I adjust the CPU utilization in OBS it seems to make NO difference. Other games are better, but the stutter never seems to truly go away. Someone told me to turn my 980Ti graphics card down lower than Ultra. I thought the graphics card had nothing to do with your stream, as the stream is CPU dependent??
Any suggestions on what to do?

your stream is also isp dependent even with business class accounts, dropped frames are annoying

I have gigabit speed with my isp.
Any others? I guess this is too new a category for EE.

you have gigabit upload/download? when you say stutters? are you referring to dropped frames/
ASKER
My stream is not smooth, it stutters. Could be dropped frames, not sure. My stream should be almost as fluid as my normal GPU graphics play.
you should be using a capture card.. is your internet really gigabit both up and down?
ASKER
Up is 40 megabits and down is 1000. As I mentioned above, I do know a separate streaming PC with capture card would be THE best, but that is something I can't afford right now.
