Lenovo Tab a10-70f boots only to recovery mode

I have a lenovo a10-70f that only boots into recovery mode. I choose a command and I get the dead android logo with a triangle coming out of its stomach with a caption "no command"

My diagnostic is that the OS updated and screwed up, I've seen it similarly before with Google Play soft-bricking the entire tablet.

There is an option to update from from, does anyone know where I can get a copy of the original android image for this device? And where can I get a copy of the fastboot adb.sh file? I had it a while ago, and I lost it when my server mobo died.

Flash Stock ROM with SP Flash Tool
"There could be many reason to go back to all stock. Soft brick, return device to manufacturer for repair, Downgrade or upgrade OS, etc.
Make sure you have the USB driver installed (procedure in the previous section)
Download Stock ROM. Latest Lollipop A10-70F_S000121_151222_ROW or here. Kitkat A10-70F_S000021_150501_ROW_USER. Extract.
Download and extract the latest version of SP Flash Tool
Power off the tablet and run flash_tool.exe in the extracted SP flash tool folder
Click 'Scatter-loading' and chose MT6752_Android_scatter.txt file in the extracted stock rom folder. Make sure on the drop down menu 'download only' is selected.
Click 'download' and then connect the turned off tablet to the computer. The progress bar will show. It takes about 5 mins for the flash. A big green 'OK' button will show the end of the process. Disconnect the tablet and power it on. It may take up to 10 mins for the first boot. If it still not booting force turn off by pressing on the power button and start again.

The tablet should be powered off when connecting it to the computer, for both installing the preloader drivers and for flashing. This one is a very important step, and it won't work with a turned on tablet."

Try to follow the procedure above to re-load the stock ROM. It might be the only way to get your tablet back to a working condition. Please click the source link and goto "4. Flash Stock ROM with SP Flash Tool" for getting the URLs for all downloads required. Besides, take your own risk as I will not help you to verify whether the above ROM will work or not.

Can't I  just load the firmware onto a microSD and install it from what's left of the Kernel that's loading on the tablet?
No.

If you can find a working firmware which can be downloaded, you can do what you want.

The fact is you cannot find it anywhere and you do not have a backup.

Of course, I will not try to locate and buy the same tablet just for helping you to extract the firmware and upload the firmware for you to download. There is no value to buy an obsolete tablet and the owner of this forum will not pay me back the cost involved.
I feel like this is starting into an argument. I have fixed android tablets before, I have just never had this problem before.

This is for a customer of mine who recently updated her tablet and it messed with the kernel. Not usually a thing that can't be fixed.
Agreed.

But, it is not an argument.

I have searched for 30 minutes and there is no such firmware available and firmware is model specific.

This is for a customer of mine who recently updated her tablet and it messed with the kernel.

It is very likely that the tablet is rooted or it is not so easy to mess with the kernel.
Oic, Thanks for your help. My question was along the lines of getting the closest firmware possible, because in recovery mode, I do have an option to "update via SD card," that wouldn't work?
If you select "update via SD card", will you still get the "No command"?

My question was along the lines of getting the closest firmware possible

Besides, there is no closest firmware as firmware is model specific and you will brick the device if you flash the firmware from a similar model.
it does search for an SD before it gives the no command error... some other options at least do try to do something. However, booting into the OS that is supposed to be there and a few other options immediately gives no command error.
I an pretty sure that you will go nowhere no matter how hard you tried.

The bootloader is damaged and you need to have insider information from Lenovo before you can fix it.

It seems that Lenovo devices are having similar problems.
