Don't use the Access split form. Build one yourself by using an unbound main form with two bound subforms - one single record and the other continuous. it only takes a couple of lines of code to sync them. The advantage of the special form type is the way it allows you to reset the split on the fly. If you need that kind of display flexibility, then you have to go with the special form, if you don't, you won't get any nasty surprises if you build your own.
