Mailboxes on a lost database
I had one of my desktop support peeps build four new mailboxes. by total accident, she created them on one of the default DBs installed when exchange is installed. When Harvey hit Houston, we lost those databases and we were not backing them up since they weren't supposed to be used. So, now I have four users on an orphaned mailbox database.
I tried to more them, but since exchange 2013 can't see the old database, the move is failing.
Is my only option to delete the mailboxes and recreate them?
Thanks
Cliff

You know this, but moving forward, backups are necessary. Also, you may want to look into setting up a DAG. This will not only give you high availability, but also some redundancy.
Here is how to set up a DAG on Exchange 2013. http://www.mustbegeek.com/configure-dag-in-exchange-2013/
