single click opens screens

I am running win 10, and under my file explorer options, I have selected "double-click to open an item".

In outlook and in some other area's, when I click on an email, it just opens it, instead of selecting it.

So how would I even fix this, since it's configured correctly, but it's not working.

Open your mouse properties and verify the double click sensitivity settings. Try to change them and see if that works.

BP, in outlook, I'm using the reading pane with the bottom view.  It's actually random, when I single click on some emails in the middle pane, it just brings up the emails, opens it.  It only happens to some, not all, it's totally random.

McKnife, I tried that already, I am using a logitech wireless mouse.  I installed the software, and looked everywhere through the settings, but can't find anything with options on configuring the double click sensitivity.  The only sensitivity I found is for the pointer.

I'm going to try to plug in a simple wired mouse and see if it does the same thing.

This issue was happening prior to me installing the setpoint logitech software.

Well, a single click on an email item should display it in the reading pane...

Thanks guys, those were the settings I was looking for, the mouse single click sensitivity options that McKnife provided. I've been tested it for a few minutes and it seemed to have worked.

its still happening, I thought that had solved it, but it's still happening...... bummer.
Did you try a wired mouse, did that behave the same way?

There's potential in the mouse itself being an issue. How old is the mouse? I ask because a mouse is, in essence, a mechanical part and it has a "mileage" lifetime. Generally in the multiple thousands of clicks (sometimes considerably more - dependent on quality of the mouse), but you would be surprised how quickly you get there depending on what you use the mouse for.

I will try a wired mouse for a few hours/days and  I'll see if it still happens.
