Veeam iSCSI requirements

Are there any requirements for Veeam to have iSCSI connectivity for Instant Restore or back of storage?

Veeam is an application which installs on Windows, so it requires Windows iSCSI software initiator to be connected to your iSCSI SAN, and then a drive letter assigning to that network storage LUN.

The Veeam can use the storage.

or are you referring to SAN Direct Mode ? where Veeam access the LUNs directly? you would need to assign the IQN to the LUNs on the SAN.

Hi,

my contribution :
He told me Veeam requires iSCSI for Instant Restore and backing up volumes directly from storage

Well this is about access to SAN, but it could be iSCSI, or Fibre Channel, or SAS direct attach. Not necessarily iSCSI.
Also this statement might not be really wrong depending of your environment.

Thank You Andrew, this got me looking in the right direction for the SAN Direct access info I needed.
