Hello,

I just saw my wsus showing windows vista for windows 10 machines. I found hotfix for WIndows server 2012R2, but our wsus is 2008 R2.

Is there any work around?

Server 2008 is a Vista kernel. It does not provide WSUS for Windows 10. You need to upgrade the server.

thanks john,

Is there any supported document from Microsoft for that?

Try this Microsoft Article. It says Server 2012 which is what I have seen before

Yes. Server 2012 R2.

right that's why you have to upgrade the server to 2012 as John said. 2008 isn't going to do it for windows 10.

The display is informational inky within wsus, in the update availability/need it is not an issue since the Windows 10 look for updates matching their 10.x version....

It is not as though these systems will ve offered or reflect vista related updates.

Yeah, unfortunately, WSUS on Server 2008 only "kinda sorta" supports Windows10.  Most patches will still apply, but   it will choke on any "feature upgrades".

Bad Microsoft! Windows 10 is not that much newer than server 2008R2, they should play together better than that.

Hey, You should follow the KB given below. You just need to install one or two patches and it will be shorted out for sure..

It worked for me as expected.

@Mal Osborne Windows 10 (July 29, 2015) is not that much newer than server 2008R2 (October 22, 2009)

6 years is still 6 years and 3 server versions since (2012/2012R2/2016)

@ #AKS#

That only pertains to Server 2012, The OP is running server 2003 WSUS 3.0 which that KB will not apply to.
