Windows 2016 Data Center fails to update
I just built two Windows 2016 Datacenter Cluster Servers for testing in my vCenter VM environment.
I have a Windows 2016 DataCenter VM which is the Domain Controller which works great.

On the two cluster servers I installed a program WindowsUpdateNiotifier which works similar to the old windows update icon in the system tray I use this on all my Windows 8 and up machines and works great.

The source for my updates is my Windows 2012 R2 WSUS server
Both cluster servers are registered in WSUS

When I try to apply the updates I get this message.

We couldn't connect to the update service. We'll try again later, or you can check now. If it still doesn't work, make sure your're connected to the internet.

Retry

I retry and retry no luck

How can I force the Windows 2016 to search MS online for updates too

The Windows 2016 Data Center Domain Controller works fine with updates from My WSUS server just these two puzzled

Thanks

this update notifier?   the one that says "no windows 10 support" which also means no 2016 support?

https://wun.codeplex.com/

in update and security, there is a link to manually check for updates directly from microsoft

Seth,

I am missing the "Check Online for Updates from Microsoft" on both Servers.
I checked on my Windows 2016 DC and it shows there.

Why would it not show on these two servers?

Thanks

Tom

Anyone out there that might know why this is happening?

are those servers configured for wsus?
is there a gpo in place for it?
do they appear in the console?
is there a firewall or other network configuration that is preventing access from those 2 servers?

Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system featuring the "universal application architecture" (UAP); apps can be designed to run across multiple devices with nearly identical code, including PCs, tablets, smartphones, embedded systems, Xbox One, Surface Hub and HoloLens. Windows 10 also includes a virtual desktop system, a window and desktop management feature called Task View, the Microsoft Edge web browser, support for fingerprint and face recognition login, voice-based search (Cortana), new security features for enterprise environments, and DirectX 12 and WDDM 2.0 to improve the operating system's graphics capabilities for games.
