Angular 4: What are the big new features?

And what is Semantic Versioning?

curiouswebsterSoftware EngineerAsked:
Who is Participating?
I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Here are the Angular docs on this

Which draws from here

From the first doc
SemVer means that our version numbers are meaningful. Patch releases will not change the functionality, minor releases will contain only additive changes, and breaking changes are reserved for major releases.

to address your actual question
Angular 4: What are the big new features?

How about from 2.

What version numbers do they mean?
> SemVer means that our version numbers are meaningful.
Julian HansenCommented:
Version 4.x.y - the numbers all means something specific.

In terms of differences - not much between the two - no breaking changes. The Angular 4 core changed a bit under the hood to make things a bit faster and smaller.
a faster renderer
compiles to a smaller footprint
compiles faster
better bug reporting
ng-if now has an else part.
Support for typescript 2.1 and 2.2
Animation removed from core

So more of a delivery / debug / restructure than a feature update.

Basically if you know Angular 2 you know Angular 4
