SMTP Server service to send Voicemail to Email?

I have a client using a Panasonic phone system (KX-TVA200). The vendor who set it up tried to configure it to use one of their O365 user accounts to relay, a free Google account and a free Yahoo account. None worked. He finally said that the system can't send using TLS or STARTTLS. They don't have an in-house SMTP Server (as they are on O365).

He ended up using his Exchange Server to relay the voicemails to email - which is only a temporary fix.

Questions (Note - I know nothing about phone systems!):
1. Is he correct that the KX-TVA200 can't sent secure emails and we can't use an O365 account to relay?
2. If so, can I setup/use an in-house Windows 10 PC as an SMTP Server to relay the mail?
3. Or would it be simpler/easier to use an SMTP Service (like serversmtp.com)?

I've never attempted Number 2 or 3 and am looking for the simplest solution with minimal setup. They probably only get about 10-20 voicemails a day for the entire office.

SMTP setup can take far more time than you might imagine.

Best to open a Gig + have someone go through their mail flow, end-to-end, to setup all steps correctly.
Yes, IIS SMTP component.

In the absence of that look at pmail.com Mercury Mail .......

Daivd, thanks for the comment. I've worked with Exchange - not an expert, but pretty familiar with it  (via SBS 2003, 2008 and 2011), so I think I can set up an SMTP Server if necessary. Just looking for the simplest option.
Exchange is not free, IIS SMTP service/component or using the mail server Mercury nail from pmail.com ........ Is a cost free option.
If it we're me, literally, I would setup a mail server on Linux, and have fun doing it.

However, do not under estimate the time it will take you if you haven't done it before.

Alan.
Alan, the asker has a Mac, installing postfix as a mailserver .......is not a Complex proposition.
Are you suggesting it as a proof of concept excersise. Setup multiple email addresses. Add them as accounts in outlook, create, different certificates. Email from one account to the other with encryption?.....
Hi Arnold,

Not sure where that is coming from, but just because someone is using a Mac doesn't mean they have no clue.

I understand the stereotype, and yes, there is definitely a correlation, but the OP specifically said they are familiar with servers, and in any case, I don't think we should be branding all Apple users as necessarily being technically illiterate.

Sorry if I misunderstood.

Alan.
Alan,

I think you read-in the exact opposite view from what my statement says.
You suggested the user setup a Linux server with a mailserver. My point is having a Mac the user can setup postfix on their Mac.
Okay - my apologies.

Alan.
Everyone, I'm a bit confused about where all the Mac comments came from. Client is not a Mac user at all. I even specified Windows OS as a key word...

Anyway, sorry for the delay in getting back. Been doing some investigating and will be trying out TurboSMTP (http://serversmtp.com/en). Will post back on my results.
Seems I posted comment in this thread applicable to another..

Iis SMTP on 2008 and newer is part of the management console 6 feature.
Mercury nail us free and robust ........
Everyone,

Looks like TurboSMTP won't work.

I think I should simplify the question by asking for an answer to question 1, which was:

Is he correct that the KX-TVA200 can't sent secure emails and we can't use an O365 account to relay?

Any Panasonic phone experts that can answer?

Thanks all for the comments. Although I'm not sure how this will play out, I think the best solution would be (from what I've learned), having the Panasonic system updated to handle SSL communications. Absent that, an in-house SMTP would be next.
