Google calendar

Scenario: A school has different year groups and on the main home page of the school's web site, the school has one calendar with people can download into the google calendar.

The problem as a parent, is that it shows the activities and dates of events for all year groups, 80% of which are not relevant to me as my child is not in those other year groups.  I want to make a suggestion to the school to run individual calendars so that I can sync only the year group that I need.

I want to contemplate how easy this will be for them to do or possibly expect a response that this will be too much admin for them to manage.  In case that is the answer they come back with, can anyone here come up with a smart solution to this which will allow those parents to only download the year group that their child is in whilst also keeping the admin to a minimum for the school to manage the diary.  I don't know if Google Calendar has a feature to management groups like this?

Google already supports this, under one account, you can have several calendars. Each can be shared to different people. For an administrations point of view, it's easy to manage.
Administration: just add events, make sure you select correct calendar.
Shared user: you got shared only the calendar you wanted, you won't see the events of the other groups.

Sorry I dont understand your comment.  I need to explain in simple steps what the school needs to do.   Here is the link: http://www.lanchestercfs.org.uk/diary/grid/2017/09/

I am only interested in the purple (reception year group).  What do I need to do?

Thanks.
The school publishes only one calendar.
The school needs to use more calendars (in Google Calendar > Create a new calendar), for each group. Then each group should get it's own link.
The "Subscribe using Google Calendar" part, should now have a link for each year.
You click only the year you need. Since you already added the current one, just click Hide calendar in Google Calendar.

Yes that is what I was alluding to in my original post. I wanted to avoid a situation where they had to create individual calendars as I know this will be harder for them to administer.

I was hoping there was a way of setting categories for each year group.
While those calendars are individual, they fall under the same Google Account, there's no logging off and on. The only thing is to just select the correct calendar when adding an event. That same mouse click would take the same amount of work to set the correct category. From an administrative view point, it's one extra click for either options  (IF setting category was an option)

How do I then generate a link for each of the calanders and how to delete them as I cannot see a delete function, only hide?
Actually, digging a bit deeper, the school actually ISN'T using Google Calendar at all, it only generates a view that Google users can see the events in Google Calendar with ease. So in this case, control seems to be FULLY in the school's (IT) hands.
Also, since their IT has to change a few things that I do not know off (since I don't have the code how they handle their calendars), I also have to withdraw my wrong conclusion that it takes them the same mouse clicks for categories/extra calendar.
Even so, if they were to publish each group as a separate calendar, on the client's end, Hide calendar is indeed what you would need to do.
