Lenovo Thinkpad E535 - Windows 7 updates failing

All,

I just did a factory reset on this laptop and Windows 7 was reloaded fresh. The updates keep failing. Any ideas? I am at work so it will take a bit to respond back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I am going to try the SP1 install and get back to you. Thank you!
So far so good John. I also removed Norton Internet Security from this machine which I think also causes issues.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like SP1 kick started updates I remove NIS and use Corporate SEP.
Once I finish the current updates and if it does not work I will try the troubleshooter.
Oh well. I rebooted after SP1 and all looked good. Updates came down then failed again. :(
There is a generalized Microsoft Update Troubleshooter you can try.

But really after a fresh install it should work. Do try leaving it running overnight tonight.
I did a fresh install and it keeps failing. The image came with the laptop. I just hit F9 to get the recovery going.
The install may have gone bad. Shut it down, start it up and let it run overnight to see.

Please post the error code or Print Screen.
I am installing the updates 20 at a time... I am up to my second batch. So far so good.

This is the error I was getting...

Windows update error - 8024402c
Perhaps run driver updates via System Update in case drivers need updates to keep up with Windows Updates
I think the only thing you have to do is waiting,  it will fix by itself.

Below steps can also cause such a problem:

•Bad Internet connection - Check with Windows Troubleshooter
•Microsoft's Servers are down - Wait for a few hours and retest
•You have a firewall installed - Disable firewall and Retest
•You're using a proxy server - you probably know if you are using a proxy server
•There is a problem with your network settings
•Try with another ISP

Note: Before making any serious changes to your system you should wait for two or three days to see if the error goes away on its own.
Gents... its been a long day and a combination of your fixes and a couple of my own I got all the updates installed. Yes I just finished. LOL!  Thanks guys!
You are very welcome and I was happy to help
I am glad you got it working, and thanks.
