outlook black

every now and then the background in out look where the emails are listed becomes black and as you move the cursor down then it starts to show the emails. the only remedy for that is to close outlook and restart it . it gets annoying. any other solutions?

If there is no other programs acting like this ,,try repair Office from Control Panel.
If this will not help I'm afraid  you must reinstall Office or just Outlook.
I agree with Tom.

If that fails, however, also try a new, test Windows User Profile (Account). See if a new Windows Account helps.

You're welcome, good luck.
very helpful answer
I already gave u the credit . I just remembered am I compromising anything by disabling hardware graphics?
The hardware acceleration is mostly used for Office "animations".
One of the animations is the typing animation where the cursor is smoothly moving when typing text.
Another one is the transition animation when you e.g. move between Mail and the Calendar.

These animations will now be handled by the CPU (instead of the GPU of the videocard) and therefore this will give a slightly higher CPU usage.
If you have a fast enough CPU then I expect that you won't see much difference or experience less performance. But using the CPU is less efficient than when using the GPU.

If these animations are actually being used is controlled by the setting "Animate controls and elements inside windows"
which you can access via Control Panel |System |Advanced system settings |Advanced tab |Performance

If you would experience any performance difference but don't bother about the "animations" then you could also consider to disable the animiations via the Performance settings (for the complete system).

Or via the "Ease of Access Center"
Under Explore all settings, click Use the computer without a display.
Under Adjust time limits and flashing visuals, click Turn off all unnecessary animations (when possible).

Or by only disabling it for Office via the following registry entry.
Office 2013
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Graphics]
"DisableAnimations"=dword:00000001

Office 2016
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Graphics]
"DisableAnimations"=dword:00000001

Thanks for the points.
