Just stop supporting the old hardware/software/OS. The user will need to know this. Eventually the user will need something that won't work on the computer. At that point you will have reason to replace it. And your user will have to wait for the replacement to get the needed functionality. But definitely do not install software to fake them out. You might as well just lie to them. Don't do that, they will find out. The problem here is if your users don't trust you, they will have no reason to accept your recommendations.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your answer. his boss told me that he would not change if the computer has not been broken. therefore i want to make a BSOD. they will not find out the exact cause. I will talk to them that his hard drive has been damaged

Well maybe you need another viewing angle...instead of trying to force a "bad" situation i guess you can also point out the benefits of a newer PC...like how much faster the user will finish each job...really measure clicks/seconds whatever you can find ...this is translated to gained man hours and this reflects to money...so if you point the boss that a new PC would probably like save $50 per day if he is a reasonable man  probably he will scratch his head for a few seconds and then approve the replacement of the PC....if you can "squeeze" the concept that its going to be "his" idea....it will take probably fewer seconds...

at the beginning of the year, I've given recommendation of replacing new pc (including benefit). some departments welcomed it except his highly efficient department for spending money so that for this replacement it was very difficult. therefore I have an idea for BSOD force some computers belonging to his department
Hello All
Yes I support around 2000 desktops and have a policy to only support hardware if it still under warranty.
What is around 3 years or 42 months . Work nice we always have vendor support and can assist on real system problems .
But have a look here to do a force system crash from the keyboard
 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/debugger/forcing-a-system-crash-from-the-keyboard
Well you have done everything that it should be done from your part...Just keep a running report of much money are lost  by maintaining the old infrastructure and had it available at any time....sooner or later someone will ask about this ....and you will be covered...
Also take in written a paper (email) that you have exposed fully the whole situation to the boss of the department and he has denied any further actions...because he doesn't want to change anything.....with his signature......
Taking such a drastic action like faking/causing a situation that will force the replacement of PCs will only do damage to your profile and maybe your career.....just imagine if you are unlucky ...you get the new PCs and they are ones of the "bad apples" and instead of fixing the situation you end being solely responsible for a situation that caused your company money and also proved you being unreliable just because you took advantage of your technical knowledge...even worse a "kid" might drop by and point out your unnecessary actions...
So keep safe the signed paper i mentioned above and just wait....
just convince the boss that a replacement will benefit the company - that's all.
NEVER lie to him, as said they'll find out some way - and then it's YOUR job on the line
if he does not want to accept that - you just live with the problem - and try to help him to support it
there will be incompatible software and hardware soon enough

Hi Caralane Kruger,
Thanks for your help. Our user never press scroll. I want to every start up computer, it will be BSOD. Before, I tried it and still not working untill now :)

Hi Jhon,
Yeah, I worry about that too but I do this for the company. I do my best.

Hi Nobus,
in my list, I attach some things related to some incompatible software and others. Including benefit if they replace a new one.

I'll discuss again to his boss to find out the best way for this problem. I think the computer is old to use and will be damaged someday. Nobody knows
From my experience the threat to not do any support for that machine, combined with the figures about likely failures in short time, helps, if it is crucial.
I agree to not do any malicious or fake stuff, because it will probably fire back.

you are like my boss, my boss said "Follow the Rule" but I'm not because the old pc is supposed to be finished in the mid-year. and I was frustrated to have such a bad idea and my boss always ask me to report about progress.
Your boss is not your friend...your boss is just a man that supervises you and reports to the higher levels....he will try to take the credit for everything good you done and will blame you for anything wrong...its just the rule of life....depending on the man (woman) it will have some tolerance in either directions but the general idea is always the same...just keep yourself always backed up....have everything that applies to your work written (email) and if you find that time passes and you are always hitting a brick wall i hope you are young enough to spread your wings and fly to another nest (company)....
thanks a lot ...
