How to completely disable Samsung Galaxy S8 full screen

Just recently my apps are using full screen.  I read the articles on how to enable or disable full screen per app, but some of my apps are "optimized for full screen"

I have no idea why this started happening all of a sudden.

My goal is not not use Full Screen at all.

On your phone, open the settings (either from the shortcut in the app drawer or from the notification shade), then go into the Display section.
Here, find and tap on the Full screen apps option.
You’ll see a list of all the installed apps on your phone. Here, just toggle the switch to the on position for each app that you want to run in full screen mode.

My goal is not not use Full Screen at all.

Your goal is not possible to achieve as some apps must be using Full Screen by design.

Don't mean to disagree, but apps that weren't using full screen last week are now displaying "This app is optimized to run in full screen"  and they are grayed out so you can't change them.
I see.

In such case, you need to solve it app by app as it seems that Samsung have withdrawn its own right to change on how the app works.

Post back the list of apps which have problem and we will look into them one by one.
The two that I use most are Chomp and Touchdown.
I appreciate it.
Chomp... Do you mean Chomp SMS?
yes

The above method is excellent but it might not help if your problem is related to visualbilty of the app on your screen of Samsung S8.

The only way to solve your problem is to side load an apk file of a previous version of your app which is not optimize for full screen.

You need to backup all in-app data before you do the below and have a good antivirus app in your Samsung S8 to scan apk file.

Download the apk file from the link below.

https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=Chomp+sms

Click version 7.1.6 and the current version is 7.1.7.
That did it.  Thank you

Jackie Man, could you please post the apk file link for instagram? I am having the same issue as well. Is this the only way to resolve it if these apps are blocked in the settings? I have a few with this problem. Thank you.
