Email Conflicts

We have a client using Office Home and Business 2013 on Windows 7 Pro with their emails on a local exchange 2010 Version: 14.01.0438.000 and one user keeps getting this message: (Screenshot attached)
Conflicting edits have been made to the same item.  To resolve this conflict, select the item in the list below..................

His user has been setup on SBS console as firstname.secondname then the primary email address changed to 'alias@' in the exchange console

alias@ is an alias under Username

There are two other users who can send as alias@
and two users who can view alias@

We have tried creating a new Outlook profile and there aren't any users with the emails on their phones.

Any ideas to stop this from happening welcome.

Thanks for responses. Blue Street Tech, I will try these steps and get back to you with how it goes.  I agree about Office 365.  Most of our clients use it without any issues.  We have ESET Endpoint AV installed so I'll try removing the add in also.
arnold, I have been assured by users that there has only been the one user replying to the emails at the times of the conflicts.
