User has a Brother Inkjet &nbsp;MFC-J4510 DW, attached to a Windows 7 &nbsp;HP desktop. &nbsp;Printer is about 2 years old.<br />

They don't print out a lot of pages per month. They first noticed about 3 months ago that the black ink was being used up at a much quicker rate than in the year previous.<br />

Then the other day they say they ran a cleaning cycle which used up almost an entire black cartridge.<br />
<br />
I figure that a new printer would cost them $10 a month for a year if they bought a new one now. &nbsp;Versus $25 a month for disappearing black ink.<br />
<br />
Is there a way to tell if the printer is failing, or if there's a setting on the Brother that would change the rate of ink usage?<br />

A printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.
