asked on

host disconnected from vcenter after upgrade

I did a vCenter upgrade from 6.0 to 6.5 a couple weeks ago and is working fine.
I just upgraded one of the 2 hosts (dell custom image) from 6.0 to 6.5 and vCenter no longer sees it (still shows offline after upgrading)
When connecting to the host directly, it says it is not being managed by vCenter.
i suppose i could remove from inventory and add again but is this expected?  i can't find anything on it.

closest thing i found was this but applies to 5.5

Make sure that your vCenter Server Build is higher than your ESXi build.

thought of that...

vCenter build is 5973321
ESX build is 5310538
the shared kb is not  a match there could be other factors.

can you try  to add the host back ?  after removing stale entries. I have doubt if they got fresh install instead of upgrade.
it was upgraded...it detected 6.0 and ask to upgrade
i saw all my network settings on the host and kept the config; just isn't talking to vCenter
wanted to understand why before potentially removing and adding again
its for the work around as you have mentioned host missing the center entry. in advance setting of host do you see center server entry, validate if it's not there manually add it.
