Windows 10 account locked
Hey guys, so a really "fun" problem.
I have a system at home that was previously on a domain at my last company. When I left, and took the system with me, removed it from the domain and put a local account on (as admin).
Last night my wife was attempting to load something on my machine, typed my password wrong, 5 times... and locked the account out.
I have no idea how long the lockout duration is, or if I set the threshold. My concern is from GP from the domain, the threshold is 0, and forcing admin to reset the account.
Which I no longer HAVE, and from the fact that I don't see any options to login as admin, I'm guessing my local admin account is disabled.
Is there ANY option I have to unlock my account and get back onto my system?
Safe mode, safe with command prompt, ANYTHING from usual channels doesn't work, as I have to log in first, and the sole account I have access to is locked.

Need to use the USB option (no dvd drive), the only one I have is NTFS.
If this tool us linux based, am I correct in assuming I need to reformat the stick in fat before putting the recovery tool on it?

I'm assuming that was the case, and formatted anyway.
The only option I saw (from Win10) was (exFAT), and when trying to run the syslinux command it still tells me it's not a valid FAT signature.
Do I need a specific allocation size when formatting? Default selected was 128

You should be using Windows to format prior to install. Actually Windows 10 will do this as part of install.
You should NOT be using Linux to format with exFAT. That is not valid for Windows 10.
You can use this Microsoft Link to create a USB stick to install Windows fresh.

Doing it this way keeps your Windows 10 licensing intact. I am assuming your system was not Windows 10 Enterprise.

Hi, no I actually just meant formatting the USB to get it bootable from the tool.
Figured that one out already, I had to download a different program to format properly with FAT32 (on the USB only), which then I was able to make bootable, and tool is running.
Now I'm just running through their docs to find the method to just unlock a user rather than resetting the password.
Unless I misunderstood something you're saying above?

I thought you meant formatting the machine - my error there.
Use FAT32 for the USB key you are creating. That will work.

Back in to the system!
My god, no words to thank you enough!
Was certainly not the best start to the day.
MUCH appreciated.
