Off Lan Domain Computer

My understanding of Domain computers is that they periodically need to be reconnected to a network with local access to the domain controller in order to sync and not run into the "no domain controllers available" issue.

In researching a related issues I discovered a few posts that throw this understanding into question.

Essentially, I have a client which is in an expansion period and has purchased Windows 10 Pro tablets to take when doing presentations etc. out of town. What I need to know is how long can these tablets continue to be used before the user will either see the above error or be unable to access network shares through their mobile VPN client?

Also, I'm assuming that in order for a new user to login they would of course need to be on the local network, but if multiple users have logged into the device previously will they all be able to log in or just the last user?

Great thats basically what I was wanting to know, just to ensure I understand completely, if they change the password at the office they will still be able to log in to the device, but if they are accessing network resources through a VPN will they then have difficulty gaining authorization to access those resources?

As far as I've seen, the device will then prompt you for an up-to-date password, depending on VPN and when authentication can take place.
We are using the Watchguard SSL VPN client, I don't think I've seen a password prompt on some of our other clients who use the system but I can't say for certain.
Did you understand my comment, though. If they change the password on the domain, the tablet won't know it until it connects to the domain, so they user may have to first login using their old password, which would be cached on the PC.
Thanks for all the help, I think my core question has been answered and I'll do some work and determine the answers to some of the other question marks.
