Macbook Air - no sound
Hi, I have a MacBook Air 13-inch Early 20151.6Ghz Intel Core i5, running OS 10.13.
There was an intermittent problem whereby sound would stop working, but rebooting solved it. Now, rebooting doesn't solve.
Symptoms
In System Preferences > Sound, there are no sound output devices showing up.
At reboot, system doesn't chime before OSX starts up.
Sound volume is greyed out.
What I've tried
Plug in headphones - no effect - no output device, no volume
Check headphone jack for debris, blow out with air duster
Reset PRAM, Reset SMC
Checked for audio booster apps like Boom - there are none
I suspect that the absence of that chime when the machine starts up means that it's a hardware issue. Has anyone any ideas?
