Win10 master browser

Browstst.exe WAS the way to see the master browser ...
Now there is NO obvious way to find the answer.
Why did a bunch of computers lose the ability to see all of the others in network of file explorer?
Why did microsoft take away the support tools?

Can anybody help!

You need to clarify.  If I open Windows Explorer in Windows 10, I can see other computers on the network. so it has not been removed. NetBIOS (old) and WSD (new) may cause differences in what you see.

Used to be all computers saw ten listed in file explorer/network.

Now one sees ten and the others see five (the same five)

So, it seems they're looking at a separate list. Maybe another browse master?
Also, in a CMD window "net view" responds "service not running", but doesn't say WHAT SERVICE!

What ever happened to "browstat.exe?

Visibility in "network neighborhood" depends on firewall settings. By default NO computer would be seen.
The feature is called "network discovery". Please be aware that network discovery is NOT needed for file sharing/ accessing file shares and the recommendation is to keep it off and work with mapped drives instead.
So from what you gave clarified and the information added, your situation is normal and nothing has been removed . Windows has changed over time.

So long as you can map a folder, that is a better way in any event.
If you're having problems seeing other PCs in your network folder, then please make sure Network Discovery is enabled on your PC. You would do this by simply:

Navigate to Network and Sharing Center
Advanced Sharing Settings
Make sure both "File and Printer Sharing" and "Network Discovery" are set to enabled.

If both of these options are on, then you'll want to check your firewall settings, What firewall do you use currently? What OS are you using currently?
