Touchdown EOL Alternative application for android/IOS
I just learned Symantec is EOL touchdown app. Looking for alternative.
Currently sync to Exchange 2007, but moving to 365 soon.
Seeing recommendations for Outlook for Android, Nine etc. Can anyone tell me a good alternative based on some features I'm concerned about, hopefully save some research time.
Rules: I have rules in touchdown for different alerts based on things such as When arrives in subfolder, this is a deal breaker. I need different alerts for subfolders and other criteria and the main inbox etc no alerts.
Contacts sync: sync multiple contact lists, contact list subfolders, sync to native android contacts
Email Folder/subfolder sync selection (specify which folders to sync)
Peak hours, turn off push in non peak times
Calendars (multiple calendar folders), alerts
Tasks (multiple task folders), alerts
Public folders would be nice, but not a deal breaker.

It is an unuque feature. I have tried a dozen apps after I read your question and none of them offer such feature.

Thomas,
I was researching a notice from Symantec (Geotrust) on an ssl change when I happened across it.
https://www.symantec.com/theme/touchdown
I've been on touchdown so long I forgot about "My biggest dealbreaker - ability to see all unread emails in all subfolders at once. "
It'd be nice to see Symantec hand this off to someone else instead of just killing it. As we've stated in this short thread, there are unique features we all count on and Touchdown was as still is the only solution. Symantec's support of it was awful the few times I needed them. If it's a revenue issue, charge me $5 a year and I'd be happy to pay it.

I would pay as well! I did receive really good support the 2 times I asked.

Thanks Thomas. I ended up going with Nine and have been pretty happy with it. Thanks for the article. I need to take time to read the whole thing. Something I need to look at you pointed out with Nine not being a device admin.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Thanks for taking the time to do the research, testing, article and recommendations.
As a fellow Touchdown user (from when it was owned by Nitrodesk), I am anxious to hear whatever you find out. I agree with all your points. My biggest dealbreaker - ability to see all unread emails in all subfolders at once. This is a surprisingly unique feature and was not replicated on the android until outlook for android implemented it. As far as I know iOS still doesn't implement this well.
Let me know what you find out. BTW, how did you find out about the EOL plan? I was never informed by Symantec.
