Single host Hyper-V for Hyper-convereged Storage Spaces direct

Hi All,
I have a quick question.
can I use a single host Hyper-v Windows 2016 to setup a Hyper-converged S2D.

I Need to setup 3 servers in a Hyper-V HA environment with S2D, so I want to go with a hyper-converged options.

can anyone please confirm if this is possible.

What will the workloads be?

Yes, you can set up S2D in a virtual environment. There are articles for setting S2D up in Azure for example.

The question is, why? The single point of failure would be the host thus the purpose of having high availability is defeated. That is if I understand that the S2D setup is running on a single host?

Thanks for your response, so let me break down a bit on my requirement.

I am planning to move my 3 VM's which are on a 2008R2 Hyper-v standalone server to 2016 Hyper-v with a HA feature in it.
So my plan was to create a new 2016 hyper-v environment first with a HA with S2D without sharing the storage the VM's each VM will have its own dedicated storage.

So was wondering what is the best way to achieve this, as other challenge is to move the VM from 2008 to 2016 which I understand there is no direct method to do this.
