What should the system developer do to be able to connect to my remote server?
The system developer who has developed an online mySQL based software, used to filter and evaluate data for past harness races, has repeatedly tried to connect to my remote server without success. When I myself do that there are no problems: I use Remote Desktop and enter the IP address and my credentials and I get the connection established immediately.
I think my server is a Windows Server 2016.
This system developer has no Remote Desktop that he can start from his desktop he says. The way he normally connects remotely to his other customers (to perform programming, system development and system maintenance) is that he gets, from his customer, a Cisco VPN connection to the customer's computer, where he only needs to click on an icon in Explorer and then the connection is established.

Do you connect to the server from within your network or outside?

It's from outside my network. The server is in Sweden, I'm abroad, the developer is in Sweden.
Do you connect via VPN or do you have a NAT in place for the server?

I connect via Remote Desktop without problems. I'm not sure how the developer connects, but he said he has no Remote Desktop on his desktop.
He finally got it solved, and has now been able to connect.
But it would be interesting to know why he couldn't in the first place. I thought it would be very easy when you have the IP address and the login credentials.

Yes, it's like you say TuliTaivas. I received the explanation now that he uses some antivirus/firewall on his laptop that doesn't allow connections from programs not manually authorized.

Thanks, problem solved!
