I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Right click on the start menu, click Run, type "Winver". You will be able to see the OS and build version.

Either way works and I use both. If you use System, About on V1709, you need to scroll down the screen to see the version. They have put more information on the screen.

Your setup is not described. If I had to determine what windows version was used, I would use a one liner startup script:
ver>\\server\share\%computername%.txt

Open in new window

If I would like a list of machines that have v1709 installed, the code would go
ver | findstr 16299 &&echo %computername%>>\\server\share\1709list.txt

Open in new window

And if I would like to have a list of machines where it is not installed, it would be
ver | findstr 16299 ||echo %computername%>>\\server\share\non1709list.txt

Open in new window
