It depends how long you have been away from the application for, and how you left the application. If the player was paused it should retain this setting and allow you to continue (and display from the swipe down). If it is stopped it will not retain track position.

You need to add the media player app to the list of unmonitored app or your Samsung S8 will close the app and you will not be able to resume the music.<br />
