Make sure that the network sharing didn't get re-enabled:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings

If you rejoin the workgroup, by changing the name like to oldworkgroup then reboot then rejoin the previous workgroup and it will reappear.

Make sure your network is set to Private and not Public. Right click on your network icon in the task tray and select Open Network and Sharing center. Look at the "View your active networks" area and under the network name it should read "Private network".
