"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You may look at the following three links which provide comparison of the two products:

We are using Jenkins and I have no experience with Octopus. The big cons would be the price, of course. Jenkins fully fits to our needs and as we are deploying many different versions of our software in our development and testing environment. We don't need any manual action. When new version appears then testers are redirected to it automatically.

Jenkins is also useful for scheduled tasks and for tasks executed on remote computers. It has many useful plugins and it is not difficult to install and use it.

Simply said we have no reason to pay for Octopus.
