issue with scsi bus sharing

building a 2 node microsoft cluster in vmware (6.5) and having an issue with scsi controller
i'm following the vmware guide on the guest setup and on page 22 it says to change the scsi bus sharing to physical
after i did that, vCenter said "Device 'SCSI controller 1' is a SCSI controller engaged in bus-sharing"

the guest (windows 2016) is off.  found kb article 1003797 saying this can happen when attempting to vMotion but i'm just trying to add it.

try changing to a different SCSi controller for that disk

there are only 2 controllers
i have tried adding and removing, changing between paravirtual and sas...same results

You are using a SAN LUN right? And adding as a RDM disk? Also setting the SCSI controller in the 1:0?

This for the first VM / Node and also for the first Quorum disk.

called vmware support
they found an internal article stating that you can't make a scsci controller use physical sharing when running on a snapshot
i had one in case of any issues while configuring i could easily revert but that was blocking this step
removed the snapshot and works fine now...and told them that it needs to be in a public kb article
