VEEAM 9.5 and ESXI 6.5 SSL error

Dear all,
its my first post on the forum and hopefully i am posting on the right place.

On our Productions we have 3 ESXI 6.5.0 Update 1 (Build 6765664)
ESXI01.  10.10.40.10
ESXI02 .  10.10.40.11
ESXI03 .  10.10.40.12

VEEAM 1  10.10.40.13
VEEAM 2 10.10.40.14

VEEAM1 server on ESXI02
VEEAM 2 Server on ESXI 03

We backup VMS are on ESXI01 on VEEAM ESXI02.
restore to ESXI01 from VEEAM1 works fine
Restore to ESXI03 from VEEAM1 is working fine
Restore to ESXI01 from from VEEAM 2 works fine,

Now we want to restore to ESXI02 using the VEEAM1 which is hosted on the ESXI02 its keeps erroring out.

11/1/2017 12:28:41 AM Error    Restore job failed Error: Failed to open VDDK disk [[SSD] PC001/PC01_0.vmdk] ( is read-only mode - [false] )
Logon attempt with parameters [VC/ESX: [10.10.40.11];Port: 902;Login: [root];VMX Spec: [moref=4];Snapshot mor: [4-snapshot-2];Transports: [nbd];Read Only: [false]] failed because of the following errors:
Failed to open disk for write.
                               Failed to download disk.
Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}.

We have Contact VEEAM about this error but the issue appear to be a host configuration issue.

Can someone please point me to the right directions to get this fixed?

Hi,

Login to Veeam1 and login to ESXi2 using vSphere Client with user root and check if you can login.

If yes, then choose one of the Datastore that you trying to restore and try to do Browse Datastore and see if you can without any issues.

Are you using any type of SAN(NFS or iSCSI) or local disks in your ESXi hosts?

Thank you for your answer,
yes i can access the datastore using root, even deleting the VM_replica the one has failed
i am using my ESXI host disks.

thank you sir
Hi,

Are you using a vCenter, or just ESXi hosts? If not using vCenter you have all ESXi hosts added to the Backup Infrastructure?
Thank you Luciano,
yes i am using just ESXI 6.5 and no Vcenter and both ESXI are added to the VEEAM, otherwise i won't be able to create the job with destionation ESXI02.
the Job does takes like 5 min before it error out now.
Hi,

If you backup from one ESXi and restoring to another ESXi all ESXi needs to be in the Veeam. So you should add all ESXi to Veeam Backup Infrastructure and double check the root/password for all.

That error means that Veeam cannot access to the Datastores on the ESXi02.

When you login to the ESXi02 from Veeam did you try to download a file from it? If not, please try to download a vmx from a VM.
Can you also double check which Transport Mode the Backup vs Restore is using?
Dear Luciano,
i can download and upload to the datastore of the ESXI02.
both ESXI01-02 are on the VEEAM server added as ESXI server.
When you mean to check the transport, what do you mean ? how am i supposed to do this ?

thank you
Hi,

In your job backup/restore there is also an option Transport - Mode.  If is set to automatic, then when the job is running we can check in the log which was used. This information we can use to troubleshoot the issue.
