I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This probably isn't an all-inclusive list.  It is just off the top of my head.

Benefits are:
-Learning by contributing.  I've leaned more over the years by helping others than I've taught by my posts.
-Earning Premium Membership:
-Making new friends for lack of a better word.
-Credibility.  My EE profile link is on my Resume.  Everyone can see my skills by looking at all my contributions.

Method is:
-Pay for premium
-Earn premium with points:
      -Answer questions
      -Write articles
-Participate in "Live" for points instead of money:

I also suggest you look around the site.  In addition to the menus and links at the top, there is also a lot of links at the bottom that can be helpful.

For example:
How it Works

Some of the Support articles and pages might be a little out of date but there are many that are helpful on some specific ways to use the site.

Find a topic you like and follow that topic.

Your home page feed will then propagate content in there and you can begin to glean the information there and start answering questions.  High priority question yield the most points.  If you create a saved search you can get notifications of new questions.

Or you can just visit the Answer page and filter topics you want to see where questions are asked.

One thing you need to do in here is interact with people. Ask a question and respond to people who answer you. Post answers (to earn points) and follow on questions posted back to you.

How I leveled up:

  • Created a saved search that included all of my Topics and set alerts = "mobile notifications"

This basically gives you all the tools you need to respond quickly. Often the faster your respond, the more likely the author is near their computer and you two can collaborate on solving the question.

As for benefits, your profile page provides proof that you actually know about the things you claim to have knowledge on. Usually when I interview people, they have a lot of hyperbole that needs to be vetted. Your Experts Exchange profile cuts through all the hyperbole and shows your talent.
