I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The recommended setup for DB2 is HADR. With HADR you can have one primary and mulitple standby databases.
See these links for further info.

it seems HADR is really for HA and DR, right? this including bi direction replication between primary and secondary ?

In MySQL, it use replication to handle multi master model as well as active active, e.g. slave can be read only too as well as both primary and secondary can be read/write, can DB2 do this ?

For a active active database DB2 solution you would go with the DB2 pureScale feature and you may in some use-cases need to use HADR as well although PureScale cluster itself provides exellent HA. See here for some more info.

On a regular database setup HADR provides you with an excellent HA/DR with Primary/Standby solution where you can have multiple standby databases. PureScale though provides only support for one standby "cluster". Which realy means that you can have a complete standby pureScale cluster on separate site(s). :)

This link provides info on how to use DB2 pureScale feature in geographically dispersed cluster (aka multi-site )
