Split one row into several

I have received a PDF file. I have a software that converted the same into a MS Exel file. Only issue is that the main content row puts everything into a single cell. While wherever horizontally appears a number in the QTY column, this should be in a separate row. I have thoroughly googled a solution and found many tips but ended up empty handed.

I have attached the file which requires rows to be segregated. In the same Excel file there are two tabs. The converted sheet and the Sheet (which I have done manually) of how I'd like the rows to be segregated. Please note: column are fine.

Here's the file: Test-File.xlsx

Any help to solve this issue is much appreciated. Thanks.

You can also try finereader https://www.abbyy.com/finereader/
There are services to manually mark tables for recognition

I don't see a generic way to do this at first look.  The cells that you want to divide are just long strings of text, with line feeds in them for formatting.  But I don't see anything to trigger off of in each of those to know where to divide them.  The worst of these seems to be the merged C/D column, row 3.  That is one long set of text, and I don't see anything you could trigger off of to know when one section ends and the next starts.  Do you have any ideas on what that could be?

The file in PDF was created with an unknown software so no I don't have any idea. I just purchased one of those converters software and converted in Excel but this is the way it came.

Well, given the data I don't see any generic way to break those merged cells of info apart into the original table rows in the PDF.

Any chance you can post the source PDF, maybe the converted did a bad job, and there is more info in the PDF that could help.

Can you upload pdf also?

I cannot because there's a non disclosure document signed and strictly cannot distribute the same to anyone.

I had a similar scenario and tried 3 or 4 different conversion utilities until I found one that worked for me.

I am not saying this one is the best, I am only saying it is the one that worked for my scenario:
   https://www.pdfconverter.com/

They have a free 7 day trial so it wouldn't hurt to try it.
It lets you specify areas (ranges) in the PDF to convert. So like in my case, maybe your best bet is to convert the file in manageable blocks.

Hi nsiotto,

If you 'received' the PDF, then my suggestion would be to go back to the sender and ask them if they can send you a (raw) data file, rather than the PDF.

Many people are clueless with this stuff, and have been told that PDFs are the best way to send things as they are 'universal', but it could well be that they had the info in, say, Excel, and printed / exported it to a PDF to send to you.

Worth asking.

Alan.

@ecarbone I did try pdfconverter.com and unfortunately it converts only in MS Word but in Excel the conversion is what I said, it has the entire content in a single cell.

@als315 downloading and installing. Will tell if it works.

@Alan, the consultant refused to give any assistance. Don't know why.

Are you (or your company) paying them?

If so, send it up the line to your manager and have them either cooperate or get sacked.

I have installed the software and it did the work. Among many online and other trial programs this is the only one that solved my problem. It worked. Thank you.
