"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

For network monitoring PRTG is a good option:

www.paessler.com/prtg

SolarWinds also has an entire suite of various monitoring tools that would cover every need you've requested:

https://www.solarwinds.com/free-tools/vm-monitor - VM
https://www.solarwinds.com/storage-resource-monitor - Storage Monitoring

None of these are truly free, however.

Second PRTG, free for 100 sensors, different than devices, devices could have multiple sensors

Nagios is another.

Server Vendor ?

ITSysTechSenior Systems AdministratorCommented:
If you have VMware ESXI, PRTG will work very well with monitoring your VMs. We mainly use it to notify us of any VMs having a performance loss like when a server is spiked at 100%. It will also give you the history of a VM. In case of a tech call you can tell them when the server first started having issues.  Andrew Hancock is the best VMware expert, he could go into more detail about the uses of PRTG.
