Sharing an Exchange 2016 Calendar Externally

Previously on our Exchange 2010 server, we had a user that regularly shared his calendar with a friend with a account.  In that setup we had a single Exchange 2010 server.  Now in our Exchange 2016 environment we have an Edge server and a Mailbox/CAS server.  On the Mailbox/CAS server we have a Default sharing policy that is attached to the mailbox in question that "should" allow him to share his calendar to any domain.  When the external recipient of the shared calendar clicks on the link to connect him to the calendar, a window pops up announcing that its contacting the server but after a period of time it just disappears.  Is there something to update on our Edge server?  Or something else?

Thank you for your assistance.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Edge server I believe is not needed in this scenario, as it's only used for SMTP.
