Combine ShadowCopies/PreviousVersions and Deduplication?

Hello dear EE-Community,
I would like to know if shadow copies and activated deduplication could be combined on a single volume under Windows Server 2018? Are there any known problems or arguments against it?

Thanks a lot and with best regards

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

They should work together fine. Only possible issue I see is with storage performance. Shadow copies uses Copy on Write, which cause more IO during writes. Deduplication can also increase IO on storage. It should be fine on SSD, a single SATA HDD could be slow.

Deduplication is not instant though.  It can take hours for the data to be deduplicated.
