Blocking google chrome extension installtion

Hello Everyone,

I would like to ask your help on how I can, through my SonicWall,  prevent my users from installing any extensions from the chrome web store.

I tried to block all VPN app through App Control Advanced and from app rules but still, some VPN application in the web store is working.

How I can block all these extensions from being installed and the one already installed to stop working?

Thank you in advance.

Which version of firewall are you using?

If you're using Active Directory, you'd be better off going the GPO route. The Sonicwall can be used to block URLs and prevent downloads, but not to actually block the installation of said extensions if they're obtained by another means.

Here's a link that discussed things you can do:

What you could do (and think carefully before considering this) is to blacklist all extensions, then turn around the whitelist the specific ones you want to allow. That will cause even already installed extensions to get disabled (unless they're whitelisted). Another approach is getting the IDs of the extensions you're worried about and blacklisting them in your GPO.
