TASCAM DR-10 Audio Recorder will not record - BFW Compliant Software license issue?

The TASCAM DR-05 recorder used to record sermons seems to have stopped recording, While it will playback previous recordings (copied from MacOS), new recordings fail to record. During my investigation, I received a notice that the recording software license had expired. A renewal is $29.99 until 11/15/2019, then $40. I am not convinced this is true, but seems worth the expense to make recordings.

Does this license expiration make sense? The DR-05 manual  mentions BWF compliant recording software, but nothing about license or renewal.

There is driver software which can be downloaded at no cost.

Are you sure you're using a memory card that is compatible and is formatted (in the device):

If the card is too large, or not properly formatted, it can cause issues with recording.

How do you do the recording?

Recording uses external lapel mic which has always worked. DR-05 mounted mics also work, but now nothing recorded.  "VU" display shows audio input, but not recorded.

How do I install HCN 'Switch Sound Format Converter' ? what does it do? HCN product list  came with license renewal notice

I know about DR-05 Drivers & Firmware update - but not 'Switch Sound Format Converter' is this needed (i.e. license) for recording?

Can you upload sample of the recording for testing?

The recoding is in a proprietary format which is very compact in size and the converter is being used to convert the recording to a file of an audio format which can be played in your computer.

Unfortunately no - recordings are deleted after each session. Trying to record failed & got HCN Switch Sound ad. How do I install Switch Sound  Format Converter software - by connect to Mac & install from there?

Is your recorder the one above?

If yes, there is no need for a software to do recording.

The recordings are saved in microSD card inside the recorder and you only need to take out the microSD card and put it in a USB card reader and copy the files to your computer via the USB card reader.

However, I have always connected to my Mac vis USB and copied [Click-n-Drag] the files to Mac folder for editing and then dragged from DR-05 to the Mac trash.  I have repeated this process for a year. Two weeks ago came the renew [Switch Sound Format Converter Plus] license notice [from NCH] and I could no longer record.
