Licensing policy for Microsoft Servers in Test & Development environment

Dear Community,

I would like to know, what is Microsoft official policy for using Microsoft Servers; those are used in test and development environment once they passed trial period?
For example, i have deployed many 2016 serves for test infrastructure and they have passed 6 months trial period - so what Microsoft states for such scenarios?

Please suggest and share relevant links. Thanks.

MS will state you are out-of-bound and thus have to purchase licenses.

If those servers are online for a good number of hours in a given day, I'd say your in violation.

If on for less, maybe not.

I have a test server i use sometimes a couple hours at a time for learning reasons. I asked them. They said that's fine.

Don't take my word to decide, of course. Your case may be different.

Ask them.
