I get the same ERROR after launching Server Manager On Server 2008R2 I removed the .net framework all together and rebooted. Problem persists.

I had this question after viewing Microsoft Management Console has stopped working.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

To confirm -- it would seem that the question you view suggested removing a patch, and you completely removed the .Net Framework.  Is that correct?

I suspect you'll need to start by re-install the .NET Framework 3.5 through the operating system, reboot.
Then apply all the accumulated .NET patches from Windows Updates.

I heard that KB 2449742 is causing this issue,
Try to find out this update and uninstall it.

If, after you successfully reinstall your .NET Framework, you do still have the problem and believe it to be related to KB 2449742, there was a hotfix for that hotfix which fixed the problem.

That said -- that problem was from over six years ago and at least one full Service Pack ago.  You'd have to really be trying to get that specific hotfix installed and not of the subsequent updates.
