How to obtain an accounting expert to "bounce" questions off of him/her?

I have a startup business which is in need of having someone who is an accountant to "bounce" questions off of him/her about how to more properly conduct my accounting and bookkeeping.

Could someone please answer this request with either an offer of their services or the name of someone that I could go to?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

AICPA (national association for CPAs in the US) have a technical hotline, though it is only for AICPA members. You can read the Q&A responses on this page. If this is too complicated for non-accounting professionals, many US states offer small business resources.

The Small Business Administration ( offers an intro to accounting course that you can complete online.

You can get counseling, mentoring, and training from an SBA District Office, SCORE Business Mentor, Small Business Development Center or Women’s Business Center in your area. See this page for local assistance.

Thank you for providing those answers. Last week, I tried to locate the Dallas office of SCORE and I had bad luck because the website sent me to a street address that was no longer in use and had been closed. Now, I think I have identified the correct street address, so I am going to try again to contact them.
