Patching Esxi

We have few old ESXi hosts ver 5.0 in a small office. Upgrading to these to  6.5 or 6 requires hardware upgrades and this will cost money. In general, these ESXi hosts are not visible on the internet.
Is there any security risk running these?

You may donload the patch or offline bundle and upload it to ESXI and the install it.

For complete procedure follow the below article.

Personally I do not think there is a security risk running ESXi 5.0, BUT then again I don't know your network infrastructure or how your end users work at your organisation. e.g. what firewalls are in place etc

You need to assess that risk at your organisation.

For instance, we still use ESX 2.5.4 and Windows 2003!

Most would say we need to upgrade......
